As mentioned above, the agreement has been inked for the purposes of enhanced cooperation when it comes to keeping public policy objectives and mutually common values intact. In addition, as part of the MoU, both gambling regulatory authorities have agreed to provide one another with high-quality and continuous operational assistance, in correspondence to the respective procedures and regulatory policies of both bodies.
Camila Rosenberg, the Spelinspektionen’s Director General, confirmed that a new agreement has been signed between the two gambling authorities. She explained that some gambling operators which have been granted a Swedish operating license currently hold an operating license in Gibraltar, too, and even have some of their technical equipment situated there. As shared by Ms Rosenberg, both parties are expected to become stronger in their supervisory activities by sharing their communication channels.
The Director General of the Swedish Gambling Authority further said that the newly-signed agreement marks the start of an in-depth and long-term collaboration.
Spelinspektionen Aims to Enter Similar Agreements with European Gambling Regulators
Earlier in 2019, Spelinspektionen entered a similar Memorandum of Understanding with Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) as part of its efforts to initiate corresponding cooperation with more gambling regulatory bodies across Europe. The agreement between the new Swedish Gambling Authority and MGA was signed at the beginning of March 2019, and under the MoU, the two parties agreed to share enhanced cooperation in accordance with the two bodies’ respective procedures and regulatory policies.
As mentioned above, the Swedish gambling regulatory body aims to work together with as many European gambling regulators as possible on a variety of areas by inking similar Memorandums of Understanding, under which provisions for information sharing on mutual policies and areas of interest are set out.

Mr Lyman further explained that the GGD shares the common values of the Swedish Gambling Authority in terms of a fair market, social responsibility promotion, customer protection, as well as reducing gambling-related crime and is devoted to working to protect these values.
Both parties believe that the MoU has come as an important step towards achieving their respective regulatory goals in vital areas which have been important to both regulatory bodies.
